PERSONAL HISTORY
Dr. Sheron was born and raised in Batavia, NY, a small town between Buffalo and Rochester, NY. Her parents, Marilyn and the late Keith Sheron have always been her source of support and encouragement and she has a very close-knit extended family. She also has many lasting friendships from her childhood that continue to be a valuable part of her life. She lived in her hometown until she began her undergraduate studies at Cornell University in 1999.
Dr. Sheron initially began preparing for a career in medicine, however she realized the many potential career opportunities that she had not yet explored. She took a number of diverse classes and was involved in a variety of activities at Cornell. She completed an internship with ARAMARK after her junior year, which lead to a position in their human resources managerial training program upon graduation. She was involved with employment branding, recruitment software implementations, training, and general human resources management. Although she was developing a successful career in human resources, Dr. Sheron began to realize that her real passion was medicine.
In 2006, Dr. Sheron was accepted to the University of Pennsylvania where she completed her pre-medical class requirements through a program design for students taking a non-traditional path to medicine. She was fortunate to be accepted into a competitive linkage program with Drexel University, which allowed her to begin medical school immediately after completing the program in 2008.
During her four years at Drexel University College of Medicine, Dr. Sheron explored her interest in Dermatology through research projects and several rotations in dermatology. She spent her first two academic years in Philadelphia, then completed her clinical rotations at Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh, PA. During that time she was fortunate to spend more time with her family who lives outside of Pittsburgh.
In 2012, Dr. Sheron was accepted into dermatology residency at the Cleveland Clinic where she completed her internship and was trained by specialty experts in the field of dermatology. While training in Cleveland, Dr. Sheron met her neighbor Brian Chung from Dallas, who later became her husband. They were married in Key West in 2015. They also met many close friends in Cleveland, who continue to be part of their lives.
Dr. Sheron and Brian decided to look at several cities throughout the US when considering a place to settle. When they visited Colorado, they fell in love with the scenery and the mountains. They moved to Colorado in 2016, and Dr. Sheron spent two and a half years in practice in Parker. They love to explore local restaurants, travel, hike, and spend as much time with family as possible. They have a Border Terrier named Nori who is very sweet and very spoiled. They also both love to cook - Brian specializing in Korean cuisine and Dr. Sheron in Italian. They enjoy having dinner parties for their family and friends.
Dr. Sheron is thankful to be part of the Vanguard family and the Colorado Springs community.
