After serving 4 years in the Marine Corps, Joe attended and graduated magna cum laude from Winona State University with a degree in mass communication/adverting. He then worked at advertising agencies and eventually served as marketing director at a software company in La Jolla, California. After spending time in corporate America, Joe decided to pursue his passion of medicine.
Joe completed his master of physician assistant studies from MCPHS University in Worcester, Massachusetts in 2014 and began his work in dermatology.
Joe believes in providing patients with the best possible patient care experience by educating and involving them in their care while finding the best treatment options suited to their individual needs.
Joe is a member of the Colorado Association of Dermatology Professionals, American Association of Physician Assistants. He has earned his diplomate status through the Society of Dermatology Physician Assistants, which signifies comprehensive dermatology continuing medical education.
PERSONAL HISTORY
Joe grew up in Northern California where he spent time fishing, camping, and playing varsity football and wrestling in high school. Joe knew for many years that he wanted to join the military and serve his country.
Upon graduating high school, Joe signed up for the United States Marine Corps, where he was slotted to serve as an infantryman. While in boot camp, Joe was selected for the Yankee White program where he began the selection process and training to provide security for the President of the United States. Upon receiving his top-secret security clearance, Joe began a two-year tour providing security at Presidential Retreat Camp David, where he provided security for the President and first family. After his post at Camp David, Joe spent the rest of his enlistment at Camp Lejune in North Carolina and participated in a deployment to the Mediterranean as a force-in-readiness.
After the Marine Corps, Joe was accepted and attended Winona State University and studied advertising. Joe was director of marketing for a software company in La Jolla, California, but he felt that his calling was in medicine. After some self-reflection, he decided to start the journey to become a physician assistant. Joe was accepted at MCPHS University in Worcester, Massachusetts. After graduating with his masters in physician assistant studies, Joe moved to Colorado and began working in dermatology. He practiced dermatology for several years in Parker and joined Vanguard in 2020.
Joe has enjoyed working in dermatology and has found his passion. He is forever thankful for everything in life that has led him to his current home at Vanguard Skin Specialists. Joe is grateful to have met his wife, Evelyn, at Snooze here in Colorado. They now have a son, Patrick, and an English bulldog, Lily.
